We are inviting individuals from Generation Z (aged 18–26) to take part in a research study exploring how young people understand and practise the idea of “protecting your peace.”

This study looks at how attitudes towards life balance, work choices, boundaries and relationships are changing among younger generations. The research aims to understand how people manage stress, avoid unnecessary conflict and create balance in their everyday lives.

By taking part in this short questionnaire, you will contribute to a wider sociological study examining how Generation Z navigate modern pressures and shape new ideas about wellbeing, stability and life balance in an uncertain and fast-changing world.

Your responses will help build a better understanding of how young people approach work, relationships and lifestyle choices today.

The Research

Navigating Life Balance in Generation Z: Risk, Boundaries and the Culture of “Protecting Your Peace”

This research explores how Generation Z understand and practise the idea of “protecting your peace” and how it shapes their approach to life balance, work and relationships.

In recent years the phrase “protecting your peace” has become widely used on social media and in everyday conversations. It often refers to setting boundaries, avoiding unnecessary stress and prioritising emotional wellbeing. For many young people, this idea influences decisions about work, friendships and lifestyle choices.

This project investigates whether these behaviours represent a positive shift towards healthier boundaries and work–life balance, or whether they reflect a response to wider social pressures such as economic uncertainty, rising living costs and increasing expectations in education and employment.

Using a questionnaire with participants aged 18–26, the research examines how young adults define “protecting their peace”, how it affects their attitudes to work and relationships, and whether it is linked to avoiding conflict or managing risk in everyday life.

The aim of the study is to better understand how Generation Z navigate modern pressures and construct life balance in a fast-changing and uncertain world.

Scientific Impact

Your participation will contribute to research exploring how Generation Z approaches life balance, boundaries and everyday decision-making in a rapidly changing social environment. By sharing your perspectives, you will help build a better understanding of how young people interpret ideas such as “protecting your peace” and how these influence attitudes towards work, relationships and lifestyle choices.

The findings will support sociological research on generational change, risk and the ways young people navigate modern pressures. Your responses will help researchers better understand how Generation Z manage uncertainty and construct balance in their everyday lives.

How the Results Will Be Used

The results of this study will be used as part of an academic research project examining generational attitudes towards life balance, work and relationships. The findings will be analysed to identify patterns in how Generation Z understand and practise the idea of “protecting your peace”.

All responses will remain anonymous and will only be used for research purposes. The results will contribute to sociological discussions about generational change, risk and the ways young people respond to modern social and economic pressures.
